Summertime in Dumaguete
March 19, 2009Summer is really here… you can tell by merely walking around the city as early as 9 in the morning. What am I talking about? The heat, baby… the SUMMER HEAT!!!
Some are happy and excited about it… others, just plainly apathetic over the whole summer thing. But for most of us, summer spells out V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N. And if we talk about vacation here in Dumaguete, it means GO OUT AND SUBMERGE!!! Yeah… out in the beaches and dive in the cool waters. This is how Dumagueteños deal with the hot weather.
You see, the good thing about Dumaguete when it’s summer is that beaches are easily reachable. Reachable as in a few-minute ride from the city. So, the question is… Where to? Well, this is why I am making this entry in the first place.
You see, Negros Oriental (where Dumaguete is) is endowed with good beaches. That’s why resorts are practically sprouting everywhere. See list below:
- El Oriente Beach Resort
Mangnao, Dumaguete City - Wellbeach Resort
Mojon, 6218 Maluay, Negros Oriental - Dumagute Springs Beach Resort
Bacong (San Miguel), Negros Oriental, Philippines - Thalatta Beach Resort
Maluay, Zamboanguita, Dumaguete 6200, Philippines - Atlantis Dumaguete Dive Resort
Dauin, Negros Oriental - Forest Camp
Valencia, Negros Oriental - Sta. Monica Beach Resort
Dumaguete, Negros Oriental
So, these are just few of the seemingly countless resorts around Negros Oriental. Now, have you taken your pick already?

I luv duma as always ,nr the fine beach spots and nr the mountain . Can’t always have that anywhere . Potentially a perfect place to live !
I hope things would improve in the nr future . There are several high profile issues that needs to be resolved the sooner the bettr . But one issue with less attention given were of ithe ncreasing number of beggars around running loose in Dumaguete . Many av them aren’t even from the city as most are Badjao’s .They’re an absolute nuisance and an eye sore if not ever controlled. The Social services of Duma should have addressed this particular problem at the earliest before more beggars of the Sea gypsy origin flock into dumaguete and make the problem worsed .
Beggars should not be roaming anywhere in the city as they liked and pester people ,especially small children. There should be welfair programmes designed for these new influx of people or at least for the less fortunate children .
This is a nice blog site , thanks for taking your time to write and for giving us also the chance to share our comments.
